I wish I was staying here.

This is where I would love to be staying when I visit London in August, however sadly I will have to keep dreaming. The Connaught is a Luxury 5 star hotel in London's suburb of Mayfair. It interiors are classic yet contemporary at the same time. Lovely, lovely lovely.

Octopus Art

This piece of octopus artwork has always jumped out at me. I first saw it in Giuliana Rancic's home that was designed by Thom Filicia and have loved it ever since. (Above) I prefer it so much more with a white frame compared to the dark frame below. But they both look great.

Bloggers favorite bedroom pic!

Ok ok so maybe I was being a little ambitious asking people to select one favorite bedroom! While I was looking for mine it was so hard to chose just one. So I congratulate everyone who managed to pick one favorite room because I'm sure you have many. I kept finding pictures I liked, but there was always one thing that stood out that I didn't quite fit. Maybe it was the perfectionist in me. Anyway I decided on this room designed by my favorite British designer Kelly Hoppen. It is actually Kelly's own bedroom in her London home. The reason why I chose this room is because it is simple yet sophisticated. As you may already know I am a massive fan of neutrals especially white bed linen. I love the soft neutral colours she has used to create this serene space. The bedside lights are also a good choice for a bedroom that is shared with your partner (My BF isnt really into girly things so I think this lamp would work great) add some personalized pictures of your loved ones and some great artwork and you have one great room!

Now for the best bit! Here are the pictures that my lovely blogger friends picked as their favorites.

Decorating with flowers.

I was watching the lovely Nate the other day and he was discussing on Oprah about ways to make your life more beautiful. One of his 10 suggestions was to always have fresh flowers in your home, even if you have to pick them from your garden, buy them, or steel them from your neighbor ;). Although I don't actually abide by this 'rule', I couldn't agree more with Nate. Flowers do make your life more beautiful. While I was at University I spent a fair few years working as a florist which added to my lust for freshly cut flowers. Yet despite the fact I could arrange a perfectly made bouquet, I always still adored a simple bunch of flowers. There is something about simplicity that makes an arrangement stand out more than a fussy bouquet. So I thought I would share some images where the flowers make the space stand out more than the space itself.

Warming you up!

I have decided to give you a little teaser into a new post that I am putting together. I have asked a few of my lovely blogger friends to send in a picture of their favorite bedroom for you to all enjoy. I have received some yummy, delicious, scrumptious rooms already, but I would really like to add some more to the collection that I have so far. If you would like to take part I would love you to email your fab pic to me at yahnay@gmail.com. I cant wait to see how it all comes together and have a look at everyone's individual style. Plus you will get a lovely mention on my blog! For those of you who have already sent yours through I really appreciate it and hopefully something will be put together soon.

Chic bookcases.

Changing your bookcase around is an easy way to spruce up a room, but sometimes its easy to get stuck on how to re-arrange it. I was desperate for some inspiration and here are some pics I found.

Hanging artwork on your bookcase is a great way to add layers. I must admit though I love the desk the most in this room!

What to you think of the colour blocking + artwork?

I think painting the back of your bookcase is a great idea. It just makes the display pop.

I love this masculine room with the sofa in between the two bookcases.
What a lovely place to relax and read a book. I would maybe change the artwork to something softer though.

I absolutely love this bookcase. Its very chic and sophisticated.

The white bookcase is soft and feminine. love the rug too!

I think this is a study, but hiding your books etc in baskets is a great way to achieve a clean look in any room of your home. Love it!

I love love love this simple clean look. I think its what I would actually go for in my home.

What a great idea to add a bookcase behind your bed. It is something different yet practical.
